The London riots have come to our area. We’re not in the worst affected neighborhood, but there’s enough going on to make for a very tense evening last night.

Thinking of the 1992 LA riots. Hope everyone is well and safe.

    I am sorry you were so worried. It must have been scary.

    But look at the stats — the death toll in the LA riots was like 50 people. London really isn’t the same  We don’t shoot looters here — I know a lot of Americans think that is a bad idea but we have a different sense of the value of other lives — and that reduces the reasons for anyone to use personal violence. Not only do UK criminals carry fewer and less lethal weapons, but we seem to just have fewer criminals — a lot of the rioters seem to have been silly rather than nasty.
